Unveiling the Top-Track®

APC has reached a new milestone with the development of the Top-Track®, the latest in wire mobile shelving.

We’re excited to add to our product range with the inclusion of our wire mobile shelving system, the Top-Track®, which will see APC cater to the storage needs of even more industries and commercial sectors.

We designed the Top-Track® as part of our storage solution for Palmerston Regional Hospital and Karratha Health Campus. The design intent of the Top-Track® was to deliver a high-density mobile shelving system which eliminated the need for a floor track by employing an overhead track instead. An overhead track eliminates the possibility of debris gathering in a floor track and provides clear access aisles; which reduce trip hazards, provides wheelchair and trolley access, as well as ease of cleaning around the unit. The Top-Track® is perfect for areas where it is difficult to incorporate a floor operated system and runs on any surface including carpet, tile and concrete.

With many similar units on the market we set out to design a superior product, which would continue to see APC recognised as a leading brand. 

The Top-Track® utilises a uniquely designed overhead track (aluminium extrusion) to guide the mobile bays within the system which are fixed to heavy-duty castor wheels. Unlike similar products on the market, APC implemented the same aluminium extrusion for both the overhead guide tracks above and the runners that accommodate the castors below for added stability. The aluminium extrusions look great but also ensure the Top-Track® runs precisely and efficiently. To further enhance the guidance and smooth operation of the system, APC used nylon bearings, which were fitted to the tops of the wire shelving posts. Nylon bearings are quiet in operation, resist abrasion and are incredibly resistant to wear. 

With a bolt-less design, the Top-Track® is easy and quick to assemble, and the system can be extended to add additional bays if more storage space is required. 

The Top-Track® is ideal for use in the medical, food and commercial industries because the wire shelving provides excellent airflow and a smaller surface area for bacteria to harbour. Additionally, stainless steel does rust or corrode, meaning the Top-Track® can be used in wet and sterile areas and cleaned with high-grade cleaning solutions.

Overall, the Top-Track® is a versatile, light-weight mobile shelving system, which is cost-effective, user-friendly and easy to operate. The system maximises storage and maintains effective inventory controls.

The Top-Track® is the first step towards the launch of APC's Medical Range which will also incorporate our shelving range, Aislesavers, lockers, cabinets and see us procure an assortment of clinical trolleys, bedside tables and overbed tables.

We also see the design of the Top-Track® lending itself to supporting multiple types of storage systems such as our Uni-Shelf® and Uni-Span® steel shelving, which will hopefully see APC extend our sales reach.
