Create The Perfect Home Office, Where Space Is Limited.

Working from home sounds appealing and why wouldn’t it? It offers an opportunity for comfort but if the office is too casual or isn’t separated from the home environment than productivity might diminish.

There are many factors to consider when designing the perfect home office, but most of the time we're inhibited by space, so the need for an efficient storage solution is a must.

When looking at ways to maximise space, one of the best places to start is to consider how you might be able to make the most of unused space, for example, under your desk. Workstation cabinets such as mobile pedestals are designed to sit underneath your desk, providing added storage for stationary and files. APC has recognised the need for high volume storage where floor space is restricted and as a result, we've been able to configure our mobile pedestals to develop condensed versions. For example, our Slimline Mobile Pedestal is just 300mm wide.

Filing cabinets are great for storing large amounts of filing in a limited area. Our filing cabinets are available in a lateral or a vertical configuration, making them the perfect addition to your home office.

Cabinets are also a great way to increase storage. For the home office, we recommend our Tambour Cabinet. Tambour cabinets use retractable doors that hide within the unit. Due to this, you have complete access to stored items without taking up any more space when in use. Our Sliding Door Cabinet is also ideal for the home office because the doors do not interfere with walkways allowing you to make the most out of the space you have available.

For added storage in the garage, our Uni-Shelf - Steel Shelving is a versatile storage system that can be easily added to or reconfigured and is capable of carrying more than 100kg per shelf.

Other things to consider when setting up your home office

Equipment – Don’t pay for equipment you don’t use on a daily basis.

Lighting – Good lighting is essential. Ideally, you want as much natural daylight as possible. If no daylight is available, a combination of general and task lighting is recommended.

Ergonomics – Items you chose should be ergonomically designed to promote your health and wellbeing.

Sustainability - Activate power saving features on your computer and keep computers and printers off when idle.

Colour – Colours impact mood and energy levels, so be aware of the psychological impact of the colour you choose for your home office.

It’s important to ensure your office space reflects your personality, after all, you’re going to be spending a lot of time there. The great thing about APC’s furniture is it can be colour customised, configured and comes with a range of accessories. We’re experts in bespoke storage solutions, so if you don’t see what you’re looking for when browsing our products – let us know, so we can help you create a home office, you love.
